It’s a commendable sight to behold as we have watched Falz grow into becoming one of the most respected persons in the Performing Arts Department and a major contributor to the evergreen Entertainment industry in Nigeria. He has put in so much hard work into his craft, while doing what he loves as he transitioned accurately, into using his celebratory medium of expression as a weapon, into creating awareness of the ridiculous happenings in his society.
A landmark stance will be the release of his 4th studio album that is one to leave a mark as being the voice to the voiceless, a body of work that speaks volume on what’s important to the masses to really accord themselves as the actual giants of Africa in Africa.
The organization of this album draws the necessary inspiration from the greatest to ever do it, by connecting and sampling the works of the legendary “Fela Anikulapo Kuti”. Fela’s discography will forever be relevant, music wise but it was important for Falz to create a link to how such predominant percussion sounds & horns of the 70’s and 80’s could be modernized and appealing to this generation.
In terms of the art and the execution, the album – Moral Instruction, ticks all the necessary boxes to make the short length album be a blissful experience for existing & potential listeners to pay attention to. Then on the back of human rights activism, Folarin displays himself as the true son of his father - the notable Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who represented Fela on various fronts when he was being prosecuted by the then military government of Nigeria. So Falz was at will to experiment as best as he could with the content of the songs off this album. This body of work makes sampling a beautiful thing for those that understand the art and the music business and not just the regular copy & paste melody & content, usually put out by some of his peers in the industry.
Falz passed a message with this brilliant album, he’d be satisfied with his input, it’s going to be relevant in the conversations leading up to the February Elections & musically, the publishing company that manages Fela’s estate will give applause to his efforts for daring to do the unthinkable on behalf of his people.
