10. Creed 2
Let me be clear, Creed 2 isn't a perfect film but it's still a really good one. Doubling as a sequel to Rocky 4 and Creed, it follows the current champion Adonis as he wrestles with his future while coming head on with his father's legacy. Up against the powerful Drago Jnr , son of the man who killed his father in the ring , Adonis Creed risks it all to come to terms with the past as well as dealing with the trials his families face. Creed 2 is the sports movie of the year.
9. The Incredibles 2
A sequel to the 2004 classic Pixar's The Incredibles, is not quite as perfect as the first , but is amazing in it's own right. Set now with heroes trying to come back to the light after spending years in government imposed exile, being led not by the powerful but slightly destructive Mr Incredible, but his wily , crafty and intelligent wife, Elasti-girl , it's a bait and switch and reverse of the first Incredibles , with elasti-girl being the hero. The biggest crime this movie faces is how great the first one is, not quite having as many great action sequences and not as good a villain. It however is still a great movie in it's own right and worth your time and money.
8. Isle of Dogs
Wes Anderson has done it again, stop motion animated flick is a sweet love story to Japan starring dogs. I can't get into much detail cause it's best going in fresh and a sense of wonder, but it's another gem by Wes Anderson that deserves more love.
7. Knockout Blessing
Might I be a little biased considering this was the first movie I worked on? maybe. Is the film great regardless? HELL YES. It follows a young girl with a powerful fist who is exiled from her village and is forced to band with some women and survive a conspiracy in Lagos. It has something for everyone, comedy, action, drama and great performances all you can ever want in a film. The best part, it's still in cinemas. Go and watch it NOW.
6. Mission Impossible
Fall out : You know what you are getting with a mission impossible film, great tense action , the IMF's team doing the impossible. What I didn't expect, the 6th instalment being a top tier film in it's own and possibly the best one in the series. The world and american government is tired of Ethan's hunts reckless adventures and are trying to reign him in, Hunt has other plans trying to shadow and catch a mysterious assassin who is leading a rogue unit who is trying to topple the current world order. MI: Fallout is an explosive thrill and a must watch.
5. A Quiet Place
Jim Halpert from the Office is a very talented filmmaker as it turns out. A Quiet Place is a tense powerful thriller on how silence is literally golden. Set in a future where foreign invaders that detect humans using sound have decimated the population. A small family struggles to survive using sign language and their wits to stay 2 steps ahead of the powerful mysterious creatures. A tense horror flick that will leave you holding your breath often. A quiet place is special.
4. A Star Is Born
I hate musicals. This is a musical. It's amazing and I cannot deny that it deserves the spot it ends up on. Chronicling the love affair between a tormented singer (Bradley Cooper) and his young protege (Lady Gaga), and how their relationship struggles under the light of his personal demons and her rising success. Great acting performances with the music to match. A Star Is Born is a beautiful and a tragic love story, prepare to cry your eyes out.
3. BlacKkKlansman
What's most amazing about this film is that it is based on a real story. BlacKkKlansman tells the tale of two officers who infiltrate the Klu Klux Klan ( the racist white supremacy hate group). Simple right ? Easy right ? Well not really, one officer is african american and another officer is jewish, and while dark often is surprisingly funny at times, it's a great time.
2. Ballad of Buster Cruggs
Netflix is coming for all the big studios, Ballad of Buster Cruggs is fine cinema. The Cohen brothers at their best in this film. The Cohen brothers should be more than enough to get you to watch. It follows anthology of clever and tightly written tales written in the wild wild west, movie is great , go and see it now on Netflix, heathens.

1. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
The most innovative and inventive animated film I have seen in years and what might be the best part family over the year to boot. Miles Morales finds himself thrust in a universe ending thriller with just his first run as a superhero, while teaming up with multiple spider men of different universes. It uses new and unique animation methods and a style not used commonly in big budget features, but really makes the film to shine. Filled with heart and humor, Into the Spider-Verse was my fave film experience of the year and it's still in cinemas, go out and support greatness.
