Arguably one of the best songs to be released this year. Fake Love is a slow tempo record that resonates a smooth vibe in the mind of its listeners, while also telling a relatable story on the possible but truthful downside that money, fame and fortune could bring to a man’s life, while dealing with the reality of been accommodated by the opposite sex. This exceptional song from the Starboy Imprint (Wizkid) features Wene Mighty (Duncan Mighty) and upon release it was easily a fan favorite and gathered further interesting points with the publication of its captivating music video (shot and directed by Clarence Peters). Few months passed, and the song seemed to have solidified itself as the Number one record on our music charts and terrestrial TV stations.

Recently there have been sudden remarks about this record, with Stans of everything Wizkid going about to state their opinion, as to how Wizkid revived the “allegedly once declining music career of Duncan Mighty’. This is on the back of Duncan Mighty being further away from music scene after the release of his Obianuju and Portharcourt-first-son singles, followed with few albums to his name that made him a household name in his primary environment and hometown in the Southern/Eastern part of Nigeria. All these propelled him to be a likened personality in the political circles of the nation. In order not to get anything twisted about the sudden rise of the PH city legend, Duncan Mighty as a Recording Musician and Songwriter, is a very talented individual who possesses a delightful vocal prowess and is fantastic in his song composition skills. He’s also very natural with his art and he can put together a hit record in his sleep.

The current year in view didn’t give birth to his sudden fame in the music industry as his presence was already evident around early last year, when he categorically influenced the Back to Basics Era of Davido, in reclaiming the spot in the minds of music lovers in Nigeria with the release of his Tekno produced IF record. We can’t also ignore how that style of music niche carved by the Duncan Mighty influenced record, propelled him (Davido) to the greatest heights of his music career till date, as well as the type of songs he was churning out, while comfortably working with the Producers & Songwriters over at the DMW HQ. The feat heralded by Duncan Mighty only became evident around now, because of the extreme success of Fake Love and furthermore in the way he is suddenly the needed presence in any music making environment, to supply the necessary ingredient to produce a “Hit Record”. As the Shaku Shaku Era, has been milked completely, after reaching its expiry date, so it’s time for our predictable recording artistes, to jump on the next hit record material – (which is a disgraceful trait from the musicians we possess in this country) that they can attain viable success from.

Consequently, this ideology of giving such a tag on Duncan Mighty’s name, is utterly disrespectful & disgusting to his discography and the initial work he put into claiming his legendary status from the earlier listeners of his music. As though intellectual property can never be disregarded in the quest for greatness in the music-space as the years go by, because after all the legendary Fela Anikulakpo Kuti, is still getting referenced in the music we listen to today and doesn’t get lambasted by the music community. Duncan Mighty put in the hard work in 2009-2013, in 2017 - not forgetting that he has also influenced, his fellow PH city indigene Burna Boy, in composing his own style of music on a yearly basis, since he got accepted into the music scene in 2011. Duncan Mighty’s presence in 2018, is to the benefit of the growth of the music industry, because it was needed to push the content of music to a brand-new refreshing direction for your favorite music artistes, as these things cannot be calculated to the nearest minimum. We should welcome things like this, and not encourage ignorance & stagnation as music lovers! AND NOTE THAT THE MUSIC INDUSTRY THAT WE HAVE IN NIGERIA, DOES NOT END IN THE CITY OF LAGOS STATE.
