Us, Jordan Peele's follow up to his hit film Get Out is here. A pure horror movie starring Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke as the lead couple, with Evan Alex and Shahidi Joseph as their kids as they go on family holiday that takes a dark and terrifying turn when they get confronted by their doppelgängers who have sinister intentions.

This review is going to be light on plot and details to avoid spoilers.
Starting with the acting, Lupita is as amazing as you've heard, maybe even better and her supporting cast compliment her well and immerse you in their world, getting you heavily invested in their story. The weakest link among them might be Winston Duke and even then he's pretty great and provides good comic relief in what is generally a tense experience.
The movie premise is engaging and very ambitious( which at times might weigh the film down a bit) in it's storytelling. Us has good horror scares built using an excellent score and timing, each scene gets its intended effects with scares, the movie uses little to no jump scares, so when it wants to get you, it gets you good.

The movie is really well shot. Jordan peele is a very deliberate director and it shows with the shots and easter eggs, as they are very thoughtful and meticulous. The film also has great pacing and never feels like a slog, in fact at times it feels like too much is going. The conclusion and story towards the end get confusing but you have to pay attention in the beginning and keep an open mind on perspective and each characters arc.
Us is a great experience and definitely worth your time. I had to think about the movie for days on end as well , cause it will leave you thinking and even questioning how you feel about the entire film, but again it's a terrific experience.
Final score : 8.8/10
