“The focus of Women Chune Wednesdays is on taking the adoration of women on Wednesdays i.e #WCW, and placing it on women in music. 3 amazing projects (song or tape) by female artistes from any time period in music will be shared weekly. Look out for your favs!” - A lover of women & music.

Amy Winehouse - Back to Black (2006)

On her sophomore album, Amy Winehouse used her vocal range to create songs about heartbreak with different sonics that left a strong impression. Pitchfork’s Joshua Klein has this to say about Winehouse ”she has been blessed with a brassy voice that can transform even mundane sentiments into powerful statements”. Back to Black is a powerful statement, songs like Rehab & Addicted highlighted Amy’s emotive & blunt songwriting.
Critical Reception
Dorian Lynskey of The Guardian called Back to Black "a 21st-century soul classic"
Bebe Rexha - Expectations (2018)

Known for writing songs for artistes like Eminem & Selena Gomez. Bebe showcases her versatility on Expectations as she plays pop star so well, and lets her impeccable songwriting shine through on her debut album. She redefines happiness on Sad when she sings “Maybe I’m just comfortable being sad”. Her chemistry with Florida George Line on Meant to Be is synthetic and it’s poised to offer radiant melodies to the ears.
Critical Reception
While it could benefit from some tightening – the middle stretch stalls the momentum – Expectations affirms Rexha's songwriting prowess, ear for catchy hooks, and ability to pull emotion from otherwise serviceable radio pop - AllMusic
Amaarae- Passionfruit Summers (2017)

Speaking to Native, prior to the release of the tape “the EP is for guys or even anyone, to play for women, and then make love to them. To put you in that mood with another person you’re feeling and ultimately, get to sort of connect physically through this medium of music". The EP sees her ultimately reach her goal, on Fluid she is fully expressive and the music she makes connects. Her voice is shrilling as a fairy straight out of a fantasy, but in this fantasy Amaarae makes sensuality sacred.
Critical Reception
The six track EP is a well knitted, pleasuring experience that transports you into a place of pure serenity and joyous pain - CulArt
